Perhaps breast cancer is the disease that scares modern women the most due to the progressive increase in its incidence. The role of the gynecologist is to guide prevention, perform early diagnosis, and, if necessary, propose effective treatments that seek to preserve the patient’s aesthetics and quality of life.
For breast cancer prevention, women should maintain healthy lifestyle habits, such as a low-fat diet and regular exercise. These factors decrease the risk of this disease, but do not eliminate the need for screening.
The earlier the disease is diagnosed, the less severe its consequences will be and the greater the possibility of cure. To detect breast cancer, it is important to observe factors such as family history of the disease and undergo clinical examination, breast ultrasound, and mammography annually from the age of 40.
